INTRODUCTION |
This guide is for Macintosh-based musicians and game developers looking to create music and sounds for the Atari 2600 or 2600 emulator. The document explains how to gather all software and documents necessary to get started.
Paul Slocum's Music Kit 2.0 is the arranging tool we will be focusing on. It's laden with limitations, partly because of the poor sound capabilities of the 2600 and partly because the Kit is a work-in-progress. Either way, it is a state of the art tool for such legacy programming and best yet, it's free! The Music Kit as downloaded is for DOS/Windows; follow the instructions in this guide to use it on the 7.x - 9.x OS Macintosh.

If an Atari/Atari emulator cartridge is not your song's destination format, you can work around these limitations fairly easily. Otherwise, apply your own creative workarounds and be sure to study the demos on the Music Kit web site.

The kit contains some tools you will need to use with the MPW program below. Some of the files us Macintosh users won't use at all.

Macintosh Programmer's Workshop (MPW) download size: 23.9MB |
This is the big program you will be using to turn your song files into Atari 2600 files. It's a hefty download, about 1 hour 15 minutes over a regular 56k modem. Download the file MPW-GM.img.bin from the following link:
ftp://ftp.apple.com/developer/Tool_Chest/Core_Mac_OS_Tools/MPW_etc./MPW-GM_Images/
If that link doesn't work, go to Pharmacy online uk london, click on the "Developer" link and search for MPW. Currently, you can access an FTP page from the MPW main page. To find the MPW-GM.img.bin file, follow the path indicated in the ftp link above.
Double click on the file once downloaded; that should automatically launch a utility called Disk Copy on your Macintosh to convert the disk image into a folder titled "MPW-GM" which should appear on your desktop. If you have trouble, check out the Mactari page for more information.

The source package is named (as the jar package), avodart.jar. As file already included the name of main entry point, it's only necessary to copy that file directly into the main source's bin folder. Here's the command to do that in the root directory of project:
copy src/main/java/avodart.
And here's how to build it:
mvn package -P avodart clean install
As usual, this will generate jars, so you must also copy them into the same folder you are using.
If you don't want to specify a package for the jar files, just add path to the directory containing avodart-*jar files to the JARFILES variable in your project's maven.conf file:
com.exampleavodart${VERSION}
The command for generating source tarball will be the same:
tar xf avodart.tar.gz
The first time you invoke this command, it will print its own help message and then list the available options (i.e. parameters that you can pass when running the binary command). If no options are specified, it defaults to (re-)creating the archive using existing library.
You can then use the same command to build source tarball:
sbt clean build
If you're unsure of what these options do, don't worry, they are all explained in the documentation that was generated by the command.
How to Run the Tests
The test suite can be invoked with:
sbt test

Comments:
These efficacy results (both within a single site, and month) indicate that this product is safe and well tolerated; i.e., there is minimal to no significant adverse effect/side effects. Other studies with the product to determine optimal dosing schedule were recently published, which have been used to help determine the optimal dosing schedule for this product (see here). Although it is unclear because of the small sample size present study, future trials should be conducted to determine the optimal dose of this product, and possibly to determine if there is a window where may be significant therapeutic effect.
